The majority of this Premier League XI have been linked to the Big Six (plus Newcastle) this year, with a completely new Arsenal midfield included.
The names come from Transfer market but their ratings are too low to include here.
GOALKEEPER: Robert Sanchez (Brighton)
He recently lost his Brighton place to Jason Steele but returned for a win over Chelsea and a goalless FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United. There have been rumors that the Seagulls are set to sell this summer if the price is right, with Tottenham and Chelsea linked with the Spain international.
RB: Timothy Chestnuts (Leicester City)
Perhaps indicative of a shortage of good right-backs outside the elite, but Castagne is Belgium’s starting right-back and, at 27, Leicester will think he can get more of his money back this summer on a player already linked to a comeback in Italy with Inter.
CB: Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)
With the Premier League’s top 12 most valuable centre-backs already with the Big Six (plus Newcastle), the next man on the list is the England international at Palace, still just 22 years old. Tottenham are said to be eyeing the former Chelsea player, with Palace apparently willing to sell for £45m.
CB: Nayef Aguerd (West Ham)
West Ham have lost just six of their 22 games for the Moroccan international this season. It is fair to say that the Hammers could have been firmly ensconced in mid-table had last summer’s signing been available throughout a very mixed season.
LB: Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace)
Pervis Estupinan might want a word, but the algorithm favors Mitchell – who really hasn’t had the best of seasons – presumably due to his age and the fact that he’s not just English, but an England international.
CM: Declan Rice (West Ham)
“I wouldn’t spend £110m or £120m on Rice if I was Manchester United this summer. I would spend £50-60m on Declan Rice but I wouldn’t spend the figures that are being reported because I feel in that position, I still feel he has great growth,» Gary Neville said recently. But it will cost north of £100m and it seems Arsenal are willing to pay for him and also…
CM: Moses Caicedo (Brighton)
The Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly said the club hierarchy want a Premier League player «at all costs» this summer, after failing in January with a move for Brighton’s surprisingly good midfielder. It’s likely to cost a whopping £80m, making it Brighton’s official Sorcerers. The next option in this position? Yet another Brighton miracle with Alexis Mac Allister.
AD: James Maddison (Leicester City)
There is an acceptance at Leicester that Maddison will leave this summer as he rightfully wants to play among the elite, with Newcastle the favorites – ahead of Tottenham – to sign him on a contract likely to be worth £50m. First he has a job to do: saves Leicester from relegation as he gets called aw***er.
AM: Lucas Paqueta (West Ham)
«I can safely say I’m adjusting,» Paqueta said this week, although some West Ham fans might argue he’s about six months late. «This is the Lucas Paqueta I thought I’d get for £51m,» said David Moyes, who landed the Brazilian international’s signature shot only to see him look lost. Surprisingly he is only 25 so the Hammers would get their money back if they choose to sell.
AS: Harvey Barnes (Leicester City)
He has scored 10 Premier League goals this season with no one noticing except Harvey Barnes. If he has Euro 2024 aspirations, he probably has to leave Leicester and some £50m from Newcastle (he’s still Newcastle) should grease the wheels.
ST: Ivan Toney (Brentford)
A cheaper striker alternative for Manchester United and possibly a long-term replacement for Harry Kane at Tottenham, but neither will bid for a striker worth around £50m until they know if he’s to be hit with a six-month ban for violating the betting rules.
