Kevin De Bruyne thinks Manchester City’s ‘do or die’ attitude is driving their quest for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup this season.
Man City took control of the title race on Thursday night beating Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola’s side are now well placed to win the title once again. They are two points behind Arsenal with two games in hand as they stand.
City they are also qualified for the FA Cup Final and Champions League semi-finals and stand a good chance of emulating Manchester United’s 1999 success by winning all three trophies.
«I think we’ve been playing well for months, winning most of our games,» said playmaker De Bruyne, who scored twice in an unexpectedly comfortable defeat to Arsenal.
“We’ve been good defensively lately, but we know it’s do or die every game. Sunday will be the same, we have to win. We can’t win this game and then go to Fulham and not win.
“I think everyone wants to play games like this. We are very lucky to have played many times in these matches, being in this position.
“It’s great to fight for these things. We continue until the end of the season.»
De Bruyne’s lead came after just seven minutes and he also provided John Stones’ cross for a second just before the break.
The Belgian’s 54th-minute double effectively sealed the victory and Erling Haaland – with his 49th goal of the season – completed the scoring in injury time after Rob Holding scored an Arsenal consolation.
«I just try to play the best football I can,» said De Bruyne of his outstanding contribution.
“It went well, choosing the right moments to go behind and I think in that first half we really hurt him on a few occasions. We could have scored more.»

There is little respite for City with Sunday’s trip to Fulham followed by home games against West Ham and Leeds next week before the first leg of their Champions League tie with Real Madrid in the Spanish capital.
There is talk of a treble but De Bruyne doesn’t know if they have a better chance of reaching him now than in previous seasons.
«It’s hard to say, we’ve come close in other years,» he said. “One year we won all the cups in England but lost to Tottenham in the last minute in the Champions League quarter-finals.
«Things happen. It’s so hard to think about it anyway because the schedule is so tough. We don’t even have time to think about what can happen in two weeks, because in three days we play again and we have to be 100% ready.
“In a way, it’s nice to have such a tight schedule so that you don’t have the opportunity to think about it. It’s fun and difficult, but that’s the way we like it.»
