Chelsea turned their attention to the Sevilla playmaker after Freund’s tackle; Potter wants the Inter duo

Chelsea president Todd Boehly is reportedly interested in bringing Sevilla sporting director Monchi to Stamford Bridge.

After playing for Sevilla between 1990 and 1999, Monchi became the club’s sporting director a year later.

He spent 17 years in that role before spending just under two years with AS Roma in the Italian capital.

The 54-year-old returned to Sevilla in April 2019 to reprise his role as sporting director at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium.

Monchi has a very good reputation in the game and usually tends to get every last penny from opposing teams sniffing talent in Seville.

It has been linked in the past to a transfer to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal reportedly interested.

Spanish – whose full name is Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo – is now a goal for Chelsea, second 90 minutes.

The Blues had tried to lure Christoph Freund from Red Bull Salzburg, but they have not been able to do it.

Monchi was integral to the deal to send Chelsea’s longtime target Jules Kounde from Sevilla to La Liga rival Barcelona.

The report says Blues co-owner, president and interim sporting director Boehly is a “huge fan” of Monchi.

However, it is unclear whether the Spaniard is planning to leave Sevilla.

Having failed to involve Freund or former Liverpool manager Michael Edwards, Monchi is now considered Boehly’s first pick.

The report adds that Monaco’s Paul Mitchell, Bayer Leverkusen’s Tim Steidten and Leeds United’s Victor Orta are also on Chelsea’s shortlist.

From the staff to the game team; Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Inter midfielder Nicolò Barella.

The Italian attacking midfielder was strongly linked to Liverpool in the past and is valued at £ 63 million, as per Transfermarkt.

The Italian international, 39 appearances, is under contract at San Siro until 2026.

From the Italian outlet come rumors about Chelsea’s interest in Barella Calciomercatoweb.

Graham Potter’s appointment after Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal has made Inter’s hierarchy “tremble” as the former Brighton coach plans an “assault” next June.

He is expected to be very busy next summer and will also chase defender Milan Skriniar.

The Slovakian is contractually expiring in 2023 and has been linked to the move to Paris Saint-Germain for the entire summer transfer window.

Should Skriniar sign a new contract, Chelsea are expected to pay € 50m for him and € 60m for Barella.

In an ideal world, however for Chelsea, he would land the first for free when his contract expires.

Skriniar is the captain of the Slovak national team, has made 224 appearances for the Nerazzurri in five years and has become one of the best central defenders in the world.

Barella has scored 13 goals and 37 assists in 143 appearances for the Serie A giants.

He started this season in excellent form, contributing to four goals in seven league appearances so far.
