We know it’s still clay-court season, but the grass-court campaign isn’t too far away so let’s put it to good appetite with an excellent performance from Cortin Mutate at the 2021 Mallorca Championship.

Moutet was facing a flurry of shots from top seed Daniil Medvedev and looked to have conceded the point after firing a perfect drop shot from the Russian. However, the Frenchman had one last shot up his sleeve.

The 24-year-old chased down a seemingly impossible Medvedev lob. He settled himself and played a brilliant tweener on the line.

A tweener is a type of shot in tennis where the player hits it between their legs, hence the name tweener. It’s a shot that’s incredibly difficult to pull off and one of the most entertaining in tennis.

«Oh, yeah, of course he would do that,» the commenter said, adding, «You gotta love it.» It was an amazing shot that impressed not only Medvedev, but all the audience and commentators.

Medvedev, however, had the last laugh by winning 6-4, 6-2 and lifted the title, the only title on grass to date.

We’ll see some more impressive shots from the star on Wednesday when he faces France’s Constant Lest in the round of 128 at the Madrid Open.

Moutet is currently ranked No. 64 in the ATP rankings; However, it peaked at number 51 in November 2022. The Frenchman started his professional career in 2016. Since then, he has had little success in his career, winning zero titles.

The star has not played on any clay this season, which could hamper his time at the ATP Masters 1000 event in the Spanish capital this week. His last match was at the Australian Open in January, where he lost to Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 7-5 in the second round.

Opponent Lestin comes into this match as the favourite, having already played many matches on clay. Although his last match was lost to Austrian Dominic Thiem on clay after he retired from the game. The pair managed to complete only one set, which ended 6-3.

The Frenchman is currently ranked 63rd in the ATP rankings, two places behind Mette. Although, the 30-year-old has already reached a career-high number 48. Lestin started his professional career in 2011.

The rivals have met three times during their careers, with Lestin claiming two wins over his French counterpart. However, Maute won the only clay match of the pair, which puts the young star in good contention to advance to the next round.
