Emma Raducanu continued with a straight sets win over Poland’s Magda Linnet to record her first three-match winning streak since the 2021 US Open.
With the win, Raducanu is through to the last four, where she will face either top seed Jelena Ostapenko or Andorra’s Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.
The British No. 1 was hungry to advance to the quarter-finals with a 6-3 7-5 win in Seoul, where she overcame Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer 6-3 7-5 against an experienced second-seeded opponent. This year’s first competition.
“I really want to push as hard as I can this week,” Raducanu said before her performance on Friday. I’ve done a few quarters in the last year but I really want to go one more.
“I’m happy with the way I’m developing and improving my game. And I’m trying to prepare myself as much as possible for next year and improve my game and go through the developmental stages that I missed.
“I think I’m taking the tests well and accepting them. Going back won’t be an easy road, but it’s no fun if everything comes easy to you.
Radukan’s ranking has dropped to 77 but she has few points to defend over the next 12 months and will be looking to climb to the top of her game at a steady pace.
Radukanu, who fell at the first hurdle in her title defense at Flushing Meadows, won just one game in Slovenia last week but showed good signs in Korea.
Leading 4-1 in the second round, she showed determination to overcome a fightback from Wickmayer.
After ending a spell out of action following the birth of her first child in 2021, former world number 12 Wickmayer is now down to 460 but remains a formidable opponent and strong in her game.
On Lynette, Raducanu did not allow her opponent to return the same opening.
Despite her early advantage, she made sure to stay on top.
Raducanu saved three break points in her first service game to close the door on a potential comeback from Lynette before securing a 6-2, 6-2 victory with minimal fuss.
