Romano clarifies Man Utd have not made a bid for Bundesliga star although they have held ‘conversations’

Fabrizio Romano has clarified Manchester United’s position on Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus after reports emerged linking him to a move.

The German playmaker is out of contract at the end of the season and is currently exploring his options for the future.

Recent reports stated that a meeting had been held between Erik ten Hag and Dirk Hebel, the Reus agent.

Romano provided the latest update on this transfer story and confirmed that Man United have not made any offers to the player at the moment.

She said The united position: “They told me it’s true that they had conversations with Marco Reus’ agents. He is one of the players that they have considered, that they have talked to, so it is true that they have had conversations, but at the same time they tell me that it is not a negotiation at the moment.

“So Manchester United have not made any offers for Marco Reus, they are not in advanced talks to sign Marco Reus in the summer, so at the moment the situation is still calm.

“It’s just a conversation and it’s completely normal for a top club like Manchester United to explore options, talk to agents, talk to players.”

Reus has scored three goals and provided three assists for Dortmund so far this season. These days he mostly plays in the middle as a number 10.

Manchester United have so far added Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst on loan in the January transfer window. They are also considering cashing in some of their players.

The next fixture for the Ten Hag side is a test against Nottingham Forest in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final. The manager is eager to win his first trophy with Manchester United.

he told reporters: “It’s about that, it’s about winning trophies, so we have a good opportunity but we have to go game by game, now we play Forest two legs, so focus on the first leg, don’t think further because it will distract and so the goal for tomorrow is to win that match.

“It has been a long time since United played there [The City Ground]. I think we like it. When it’s good to play for a fanatical audience, it will be a good atmosphere and I think it will motivate the players and we have to prepare for that.

“It’s the best feeling you can have, to win a trophy and I’m lucky in my career to win a few trophies and it’s great, especially for the fans, it’s great and I think the fans here have some experience, especially the older ones, “But Manchester United haven’t won any trophies in this period and it’s been too long. We know it and we have to do it again.”
