Romano reveals an “angry” response to the Danjuma hijacking; Tottenham eye ‘swap deal’ for key goal

Romano reveals an “angry” response to the Danjuma hijacking; Tottenham eye ‘swap deal’ for key goal

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Everton were “shocked and angry” after Arnaut Danjuma decided to join rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton have endured a tumultuous couple of days. They are looking for a new manager following the club’s decision to sack Frank Lampard.

They are at the bottom of the Premier League and Owner Farhad Moshiri has reportedly now put the club “up for sale”.

The Toffees are low on confidence and need a pair of new signings to boost spirits ahead of the final months of the 2022/23 season.

Former AFC Bournemouth winger Danjuma was originally due to join the Toffees this month. The “sought-after” player was also attracting interest from Cherries and Southampton.

Given their position in the Premier League this would have been a coup for Everton. Danjuma has previously been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

But Everton were disappointed, despite Danjuma completing his medical and media duties ahead of his loan move to Goodison Park.

Danjuma is now set to join Tottenham on loan, with Lampard’s sacking possibly tempting him to snub Everton.

Romano revealed Spurs “decided to make a move” for Danjuma on Monday night as signing him was a “huge opportunity”. He adds that Everton were “shocked” by the striker’s decision.

Tottenham are ready to sign all documents with Villarreal and Arnaut Danjuma in the morning after the medical in London. Loan transfer confirmed – no options or clauses to make it permanent,’ Romano wrote for Colto in Offside.

Tottenham have decided to move in the night between Monday and Tuesday. They saw Danjuma on loan as a great opportunity and so they jumped at it.

Everton were shocked and angry when Danjuma agreed to the terms, had his medical tests done and media stuff too; Everton will now explore many possibilities including Kamaldeen Sulemana and more.’

Tottenham will not end there as they are also looking to sign Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.

The right-back has been identified as Spurs’ main focus this month and they had an opening offer rejected last week.

Porro has a £40m release clause in his contract but, according to Romano, Tottenham are “ready to offer players to Sporting Lisbon” to seal the deal.

This “won’t be easy” though, as Sporting Lisbon “just want money” for their prized possession.

‘Tottenham will push again for Pedro Porro: they are ready to offer players to Sporting Lisbon, but they just want money’ Roman added.

“A swap deal won’t be easy, but Spurs remain optimistic and will push for this deal again over the next 24 hours.”
