It doesn’t look like Antonio Conte will be staying in his post as Tottenham manager for long after launching a stunning tirade against the club, players and owner Daniel Levy.
After Spurs conceded an added-time equalizer in a 3-3 draw with Southampton, a major blow to the club’s remaining main aim of qualifying for the Champions League, Conte questioned the club’s mentality.
The comments were widely interpreted as a “please fire me” appeal to Levy. The 53-year-old manager’s contract expires in the summer and the prospect of him resigning and staying at Tottenham for next season looks close to nil.
Given that Spurs will certainly be looking to appoint a new manager in the coming months regardless, it may be best for all concerns if they cut ties with Conte and move on now.
It doesn’t look like the Italian would be too gutted to walk away, given the nature of his frustrated outbursts in recent weeks.
“I think it’s better to go into the merits, we are not a team. We are 11 players who take the field. I see selfish players, players who don’t want to help each other and don’t put their hearts into it,” Conte told reporters the day after Spurs’ disappointing draw in Southampton.
“Before today I try to hide the situation and improve the situation with words. Speaking of tactics and technique, it’s a situation, the desire is one thing, the fire that you must have in your eyes, in your heart. You must have it at all times. This season compared to last, now we are worse in this respect. When you are not a team you cannot improve. Don’t forget we played a Sheffield United team with young players and withdrew.”
“To understand each other we are playing for the Scudetto. We play to make our fans proud of us. You must have desire. The fire in your eyes. If you have this, you don’t have this, you don’t go out in the FA Cup. We’ve been used to it for a long time. The club is responsible for the market, the coach is responsible. But the players, where are the players? I only see 11 players playing for themselves.”
“Now there are 10 games left and someone thinks we can fight with this attitude, with this spirit, for which seventh, eighth place?
“What? I’m not used to fighting for this. It’s everyone’s responsibility.
“They’re used to it here. They don’t play for something important yes They don’t want to play under pressure, they don’t want to play under stress. It’s easy that way. The story of Tottenham has been like this for 20 years. There is the owner but they have never won anything. Why?”
Here is Conte’s remarkable rant in full and some of the best and funniest responses:

Spurs: “Get well soon, boss!”
Antonio Conte is better now: ‘I simply can’t stand this gang of fucking terminal losers’.

Never seen such a thing in Antonio Conte’s press conference until now. 10 minutes of trying to take everyone else down with him. It was such an amazing performance that you almost had to admire it.

Conte’s rant – shameless game in the stands. He’s not doing the club any favors by being there, getting the best out of the players is his responsibility. He could do it better with a midfield – this is Tottenham, after all.

The story of Conte’s club career is basically
1) immediately showing his managerial genius
2) to think that it entitles him to almost unsatisfied claims
3) resign, leave or simply quit
It happened at Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan (to a lesser extent) and now Spurs

Conte couldn’t be more clearly pleading for his sacking if he went to the top of the South Stand and pooped on the cockerel.

It’s great that Conte is calling the owners but it would have been better to do so at critical moments in his tenure and not simply as a means of trying to be sacked, where was this during the transfer windows?

Many say that Conte should go this morning. I’d keep him where he is and let him do his job.

Conte wants to be sacked in this international break.
The Spurs should just put him out of his misery and do it tonight.
