8-0 American (via Cuba) world champion David Morrell faced 24-1-1 Yamaguchi Falcao Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as the co-main event of the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia superfight. Morrell’s WBA super middleweight world title was at stake in the scheduled 12 rounder.
When it came to the combat itself, there wasn’t much to write about. That’s because Morrell finished things off in the very first round with an absolutely thunderous right hook. Morrell was first to man the man out of him, tripping Falcao in the ropes where he was given a standing eight. Then came the brutal finish, when Morrel lobbed a man bolt at him, connected with his right and sending Falcao down and out.
