Pochettino wants to make Kane his main signing at Chelsea as Tottenham ‘prepare for huge offer’

Chelsea are interested in signing Harry Kane this summer with the imminent arrival of Mauricio Pochettino reportedly pushing him to the top of the squad.

The England captain will enter the final year of his contract at the end of June and there has been speculation that he could once again consider a move from Tottenham.

Kane has been flirting with a move to Manchester City in 2021 before the Citizens invested their money in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland instead.

This summer looks to be decisive for Kane’s future at Tottenham with the England international deciding to renew his contract with the club or walk away.

During his time at Tottenham, Kane became Spurs’ and England’s all-time leading goalscorer with the 29-year-old netting 274 goals in 430 games in all competitions for his youth club.

Tottenham are yet to win a trophy in his days as a first-team player, with the last trophy coming in 2008 when Juande Ramos’ side lifted the League Cup.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag was reportedly «sold» on Kane being their main transfer target this summer with the Red Devils recently finding out they could get «a £15million discount» on the transfer.

The red devils they are «confident» to sign Kane for £85m plus add-ons But talk about SPORTS revealed today that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is «preparing for a bid from Chelsea» for Kane.

Kane «was already in Chelsea’s thoughts looking for an experienced number 9 for next season», but «Pochettino’s imminent appointment at Stamford Bridge will only increase the Blues’ interest».

Chelsea have a good chance as Kane and Pochettino «share a special bond» from their time together at Tottenham where they reached the Champions League final.

But talk about SPORTS also pour cold water the possibility of a move to Chelsea as «Levy is reluctant to sell Kane to any Premier League club, let alone a London rival.»

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas claims a move to Man Utd or Newcastle – who are also linked – would not be «enough» for Kane.

Jenas told the Daily mirror: “The other is Newcastle. They have the financial structure for the near future, a team that has stability, will play in the Champions League and will grow.

“We don’t know how much they will do next year, but I’m sure they will. But if I’m being totally honest, I don’t feel like those two options [Newcastle and Man United] I’m enough for Harry.

“I think with his love for the club and the ability for Tottenham to pay him what they want anyway – because they have the option to pay their best players as they have demonstrated in the past – if those are his only two options, he I only see staying at Spurs.

“Bayern Munich, I don’t see him because he’s there because he wants to beat [Alan] by Shearer [Premier League goalscoring] documentation.

“But if Real Madrid comes, he should get on a plane as soon as possible because those opportunities don’t come around often. You are talking about the coolest football club on the planet where he can go and win stuff, create another legacy in a different place and also have a new experience with his family.
