Ryan Gravenberch is «pushing» Thomas Tuchel to get him to stay at Bayern Munich after Jurgen Klopp made it clear he wants to bring him to Liverpool, according to Christian Falk.
Gravenberch moved from Ajax to Bayern last summer but has struggled to maintain consistent playing time.
Julian Nagelsmann’s recent sacking probably gave the Dutch international some hope of being given a few more minutes.
However, Tuchel is yet to give Gravenberch a start and didn’t give him a single minute in both legs of Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.
His difficult season caught the attention of several European clubs.
Arsenal and Liverpool are both believed to be very interested ahead of the summer transfer window, while Erik ten Hag considers reuniting with the 20-year-old at Manchester United.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently revealed this the Reds are planning to meet with representatives from Gravenberch.
Romano confirmed ‘there is a lot of interest’ in the young midfielder after publicly revealing his desire to play more.
If Gravenberch becomes available at a decent price, the aforementioned Premier League teams would be foolish not to chase after him.
And German football pundit Christian Falk has provided another update on the former Ajax teenager’s situation at the Allianz Arena.
Writing in his CaughtOffisde column, Falk said that Gravenberch «keeps pushing» for a fix as he «wants more time to play or switch sides».
Liverpool have ‘made it clear to him that Jurgen Klopp want him’ and the 20-year-old ‘will ask Bayern to leave for the Reds if Tuchel cannot persuade him to stay’.
The Reds are expected to be very busy this summer, but are no longer chasing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
However, they remain linked to a series of midfielders. Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo are reportedly on Klopp’s shortlist.
It appears the Liverpool hierarchy are willing to spend a lot of money this summer, but were clearly reluctant to spend the bulk of their budget on a single player.
The Reds host Tottenham on Sunday as both sides look to give each other a chance to finish in the top four.
On the subject of midfielders, Klopp said he was «really happy» to have Curtis Jones back in time for the big clash at Anfield.
While Jones may not be a player who excites fans like a high-profile newcomer would, Klopp believes there is still room for him.
«The fact that he now has five games in a row is absolutely fantastic,» he said.
“It didn’t seem for a long time into the season that this sort of thing was going to be possible because he had a bizarre injury.
“We had to be very careful with him. Even when he returned to training, he wasn’t allowed to train a normal week of training and that time he came back to the squad, we were still involved in European football, so it meant we weren’t training properly and that makes it really difficult for the players who catch up again.
“Now you can see with Curtis, always the academy guys, people are craving big transfers.
“So if a boy from the academy plays good football, it’s ‘OK, but I’d rather bring it in, bring it in and bring it in.’
“So I’m really happy for Curtis to be able to show up again now. He really deserves it.»
