Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool «can improve» some aspects of their game by winning five Premier League games in a row.
Liverpool had a horrible season in 2022/23. They quickly slipped out of the Premier League title race and suffered disappointing cup exits.
They have spent much of this campaign outside the European places but their recent form has lifted them to fifth place in the table.
Klopp’s side extended their winning streak to five games with a 1-0 win over Fulham on Wednesday night. Mo Salah’s goal from the penalty spot earned the Reds all three points.
Liverpool are now four points behind fourth-placed Man Utd. There are four games to go, while Erik ten Hag’s team has six games left.
Man Utd and third-placed Newcastle have not slipped in recent weeks, so it looks like Liverpool will have to settle for life in the Europa League next season.
Klopp thinks it’s «super important» to Liverpool to build momentum as he wants his players to give themselves «something to build on» ahead of next season.
«Very happy. Super strong opponent. I can’t respect what Marco anymore [Silva] he’s doing there» Klopp told Premier League Productions.
“I thought we controlled most of the game in the first half, but he opened up in the second half. A really good team. It was complicated until the end. Five games in a row is fine. Loved it.
“They had a big chance, so they could have scored. We had moments in the first half where we should have scored. That’s how. You have to create. I saw a great fight, really good spirit and the guys that came in were flying in the challenges. Sure, we can control the game better in these moments, but we can improve. We have played much worse in the past.
“Alisson was close to crying with a clean sheet. It’s quite rare for us this season! It’s very nice, especially for him.»
On Liverpool building momentum: “Super important. That’s what I said. We have to try to make something we can use. Something we can build on next season. This is exactly what we did and I’m happy with it.

Jordan Henderson meanwhile admitted Liverpool are unlikely to finish in the top four.
“It is always difficult to win games in the Premier League. Five a lap is very good. We have shown more consistency. We have to continue like this until the end of the season and carry it forward also in the next season. A clean sheet is something we’ve been looking for,” added Henderson.
On Liverpool putting pressure on the first four: “I doubt it. I think if you look at who is ahead of us, they are very good and quite ahead.
“I think we are just thinking about us and our performance levels. Hopefully we can be much more consistent when we come back after the summer.»
