Fans of BNP Paribas Primrose Bordeaux – also those with good internet connections – will face Grand Slam winners Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka on Wednesday.
It’s not often that two of the sport’s modern tennis icons meet on the ATP Challenger Tour, but that’s exactly what happened in the southwestern French port city.
Both Murray and Wawrinka signed up for the 175K tournament following last week’s early exit from the ATP Masters 1000 Italian Open.
As the second seed, former world No. 1 Murray entered the second round, while Wawrinka had to overcome first-round qualifier Hugo Blanchett. The Swiss prodigy needed just 67 minutes to beat the Frenchman 6-3, 6-1 on Tuesday and set up a showdown with the British No.3.
Murray is looking to win his second ATP Challenger Tour title in the space of a month after winning the Open X Provence in early May – his first 175k in 18 years.
Wawrinka’s last Challenger title – and his seventh at that level – came at the Prague Open in August 2020.

Wawrinka, however, has won four of their five meetings on clay against the 2020 Roland Garros first-rounder.
