Things are always intense before a fight. Friday afternoon in Vegas, however, tensions could be cut with the figurative knife, as both Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis weighed in for their scheduled 12-round bout, which takes place Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena. Not only is Davis-Garcia the biggest fight of 2023, it could also be a pay per view blockbuster, which is something of an oddity these days in the sport of boxing unless it involves a social media star whose last name looks be Paul.
Garcia was the first to step on the scale. Looking lean and mean, he checked in at 135.5 pounds, within the designated weight limit of 136 pounds. Davis, also enthusiastic about the battle, even weighed 135 pounds. The real story, however, happened when the two men squared off. There may be no legitimate bad blood between the two fighters, but there is no doubt that these young men were tense and ready to explode as they came face to face. Davis went so far as to shove Garcia, though the would-be scrum was quickly stopped.
