The Chennai Super Kings were plagued by injuries but did well recording three wins from five matches and placed comfortably in third position in the points standings.
Devon Conway has been seen doing wicket keeping drills in training and MS Dhoni has been seen walking with a slight limp after matches due to his dodgy knee. If he’s not fit enough to play, Conway could take the gloves. CSK do not have a designated vice-captain and it will be interesting to see who replaces Dhoni as captain should he be absent. Ben Stokes is also back in training under goal and should be available for this game. Whether or not he makes the XI will depend on the conditions offered.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have disappointed so far in this tournament. Mayank Agarwal finally got some points in the last game, but he didn’t get them at a good enough pace. Umran Malik (ER 11.09), T Natarajan (ER 10.56) and Washington Sundar (ER 9.27) were all disappointing with the ball.
If Chennai wicket plays as it normally does, they could be thinking of bringing in an additional international spinner in the form of Akeal Hossein or Adil Rashid in place of Marco Jansen.
