Gary Neville urges Bruno Fernandes to heed Man Utd team-mate’s advice to ‘stop whining’ in Villa win

Gary Neville has urged Bruno Fernandes to «take up» Jadon Sancho’s advice, after a clip of the Manchester United winger telling his captain to «stop whining» against Aston Villa went viral on social media.

Fernandes scored the winning goal after 39 minutes at Old Traffordto almost secure Champions League qualification for next season.

United are now seven points clear of their nearest opponents for a place in the top four and have a game in hand against fifth-placed Liverpool.

But Fernandes – as is his habit – showed his frustration when a move stalled short of the goal, with his exasperation seemingly directed at Sancho.

The England international, as shown in the clip on social mediathen he shouted twice at Fernandes to «stop complaining».

And Neville, who has often complained about Fernandes’ behavior, calling him a «disgrace» for his antics in the 7-0 defeat by Liverpool, is hoping the Portuguese playmaker heeds his team-mate’s advice.

ON The Gary Neville Podcasthe said: “It sums up Bruno Fernandes.

“He is Manchester United’s most effective player, he is Manchester United’s best player. But I think every Manchester United fan and probably every Manchester United player is thinking: stop complaining!

“I complain a lot, but I didn’t do it on the pitch with my own players! So this is probably the perfect summary of Bruno Fernandes today.

“He’s a match-winner, when Manchester United don’t have him in their squad he goes down the level like you wouldn’t believe – and we saw that against Sevilla recently.

“Today’s victory is an important one for Manchester United. Bruno Fernandes is a star. His assists and goals record is incredible from the position he plays.

“He always wants the ball, he has the courage to get the ball, he always fights for everything in a match.

«But maybe one or two of his teammates need to tell him to stop whining from time to time, and probably to be fair that’s something he’ll accept.»
